Hefajat leader Azizul remanded in another 2013 mayhem case

DHAKA, April 18, 2021 (BSS) – A Dhaka court today placed Hefajat-e-Islam central organizing secretary Azizul Haque Islamabadi on seven-day fresh remand in another case lodged over 2013 mayhem at capital’s Shapla Chattar and adjacent areas by his group.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Shahinur Rahman passed the order as police produced the accused before the court after end of his seven-day remand in a case lodged with Paltan Police Station and pleaded to keep him behind the bars till the conclusion of probe in the case.

After that the police pleaded to show the accused arrested in another case filed with Motijheel Police Station in connection with the anarchy of Hefajat-e-Islam on May 5, 2013, and place him on 10-day remand. After hearing the plea, the court showed him arrested in the case and placed him on seven-day remand.

Earlier on April 12, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Devdas Chandra Adhikari placed him on seven-day remand in the case filed under Paltan Police Station.

Detective branch of police and Rapid Action Battalion in a joint drive arrested Azizul Haque on April 11.

A total of five cases were filed against Azizul Haque Islamabadi for his role in the May 5 and 6, 2013, mayhem by Hefajat-e-Islam in the capital.
