1,10,411 get second dose of COVID-19 vaccine in Rangpur

RANGPUR, April 17, 2021 (BSS) – A total of 1,10,411 citizens got the second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine with inoculation of 18,300 more people today with the second dose of the jabs in Rangpur division.

Health officials said the 18,300 citizens, who were inoculated with the second dose of the COVID-19 vaccines today, include 11,656 male and 6,644 female, of all eight districts in the division.

“The total of 1,10,411 second dose recipient citizens, including 75,561 male and 34,850 female of the division, previously got the first dose at least two months ago,” Divisional Director (Health) Dr Md Ahad Ali told BSS.

The district-wise break-up of the second dose recipient 1,10,411 citizens stands at 20,946 in Rangpur, 12,496 in Panchagarh, 15,742 in Nilphamari, 7,486 in Lalmonirhat, 9,861 in Kurigram, 10,509 in Thakurgaon, 22,551 in Dinajpur and 10,820 in Gaibandha.

“Meanwhile, a total 1,138 citizens, including 725 male and 413 female, were vaccinated with the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine today in the division,” Dr Ali said.

The total number of citizens who got the first dose of the vaccine now rose to 5,85,379, including 3,51,073 male and 2,34,306 female, with inoculation of more 1,138 people today in the division.

The district-wise break-up of the first dose recipient 5,85,379 citizens stands at 1,66,888 in Rangpur, 43,462 in Panchagarh, 74,858 in Nilphamari, 36,759 in Lalmonirhat, 45,519 in Kurigram, 48,355 in Thakurgaon, 1,08,114 in Dinajpur and 61,424 in Gaibandha.

After taking the second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine at Rangpur Medical College Hospital (RpMCH) vaccination centre today, a number of the second dose recipient citizens told BSS that they were feeling normal without side effects.

They also thanked the RpMCH authorities for conducting the first and second dose of the vaccination programme simultaneously in an orderly manner strictly maintaining the health directives of the government.

Talking to BSS, Chief of Divisional Coronavirus Service and Prevention Task Force and Principal of RpMC Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnobi Lyzu said vaccination of the first and second doses of the jabs are continuing smoothly in the division

He called upon all citizens to abide by the health directives and wear masks even after taking the first and second doses of the jabs to remain safe and contain the rapidly rising coronavirus infection in the division.
