CHATTOGRAM, April 16, 2021 (BSS) – An elderly woman was killed by a wild elephant in Joldi hilly area under Banshkhali upazila of the district.
The victim was identified as Nur Ayesha, 60, Wife of Ferdous Ali, hailed from Joldi Municipality under Banskhali upazila of the district.
Banshkhali Ecopark Range Officer Anisuzzaman Sheikh confirmed the matter.
According to locals, Nur Ayesha went to the Ballajiri Lemon Garden, to bring lemons to the market for sale, one kilometer away from her residence .
She was attacked by an elephant on her way. Nur Aysha was rushed to Banshkhali Health Complex in critical condition where the attending doctors declared her death.
Banshkhali Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Saiduzzaman Chowdhury said that the upazila administration has given Taka 20,000 as financial assistance for the burial to the family of Aysha.
