DHAKA, April 15, 2021 (BSS) – The presence of people and vehicles was very much low on the roads in the capital and most of the cities and towns across the country today on the second day of the eight-day-long “strict complete lockdown” enforced from Wednesday.

The government has imposed the complete lockdown from April 14 to 21 aiming at combating the alarming spread of the coronavirus as the country is witnessing the second wave of the lethal virus, which is being observed as more devastating compared to the first wave.

The lockdown was strictly observed in the capital city on the second consecutive day as the law enforcement agencies were seen active in enforcing the lockdown strictly and checking the movement passes of the people and vehicles on the roads.

Members of the law enforcement agencies were seen patrolling across the city to force the people stay indoors during the lockdown.

No vehicle, except those carrying law enforcement agency personnel, ambulance, goods laden trucks and engaged in emergency services, was seen plying in the city roads.

The law enforcement agencies, however, were seen checking the vehicles whether those were engaged in emergency works and have movement passes.

According to the lockdown notification, none can go out of home without very urgent needs like buying medicines during the lockdown, except officials or workers related to the specific services mentioned in gazette notification.

However, the notification has allowed the people to go out of home for emergency works specified under 14 categories, including buying medicines, receiving healthcare services, transporting agricultural goods and performing official duties, by collecting movement pass from the app- movementpass.police.gov.bd.
