DHAKA, April 14, 2021 (BSS) – Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud today
expressed profound shock and sorrow at the death of president of Bangla Academy and
distinguished researcher of folk culture Professor Shamsuzzaman Khan.
In a condolence message, the minister paid rich tributes to late Khan and said the
contribution of Shamsuzzaman Khan in country’s literature and folk cultural arenas will
ever be remembered.
Hasan, also Awami League joint general secretary, prayed for eternal peace of the departed
soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family.
Professor Shamsuzzaman Khan passed away this afternoon at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical
University.
Former Director General of Bangla Academy Prof Shamsuzzaman died at the age of 80.
He was awarded Bangla Academy Literary Award in 2001, Ekushey Padak in 2009 and
Independence Day Award in 2017.
