Condolences pour in for Prof Shamsuzzaman Khan

DHAKA, April 14, 2021 (BSS) – Tributes and condolences continue to pour in for incumbent president and former director general of Bangla Academy Prof Shamsuzzaman Khan who passed away today at a city hospital at the age of 81.

Immediately after his demise, people from all walks of life as well as different political parties and leaders expressed their shock and sent condolences.

President M Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina expressed profound shock and sorrow at the death of Ekushey Padak winner Prof Shamsuzzaman Khan.

In separate condolence messages, the President and the Premier prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family.

Besides, in separate condolence messages, Jatiya Sangsad Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury, Deputy Speaker Advocate Md Fazle Rabbi Miah and Chief Whip Noor-E-Alam Chowdhury condoled the death of Shamsuzzaman Khan.

A number of cabinet members also expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of Shamsuzzaman Khan.

Fisheries and Livestock Minister SM Rezaul Karim, Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Md Shahab Uddin, Textiles and Jute Minister Golam Dastagir Gazi (Bir Protik), Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni, Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Ministry of Social Welfare and Dhaka-8 constituency lawmaker Rashed Khan Menon, State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism Md Mahbub Ali, State Minister for Cultural Affairs KM Khalid, State Minister for Local Government and Rural Development (LGRD) Swapan Bhattacharya and State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of Prof Shamsuzzaman Khan.
