Tech infrastructure helps to roll back COVID-19 crisis: Palak

NATORE, April 14, 2021 (BSS) – State Minister for Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Division Zunaid Ahmed Palak today said technological infrastructure has been playing an ancillary role to roll back COVID-19 pandemic of the country.

“Although the global corona pandemic has created crisis in the country …but the infrastructure of the information technology is playing conducive role to overcome the pandemic crisis,” he said this while virtually joining with inauguration of oxygen supply service at upazila health complex at Singra here this afternoon.

Around 50,000 masks were also distributed at different district and upazila organizations on behalf of the state minister.

Palak said the vision -2021 of the digital Bangladesh was first announced by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in 2008. “Digital Bangladesh now comes into reality due to effective measures, taken up by Sajib Wazed Joy who is known as the architect of digital Bangladesh,” he told the function.

“Now people of all professions are getting benefit of the digital Bangladesh with introduction of emergency citizen service 999 in 2012 and huge infrastructure of the technology have been developed for easy access to digital services of the people , ” said the state minister.

Many more technological services including tele-health, tele-medicine and ma-tele-health are providing services to the people in health sector.

Even the website- corona.gov.bd has been introduced by the ICT division with the latest information of fatality and infection situation of the Covid-19 pandemic, Palak added.

“Despite the Covid-19 crisis but the online education programme is going on in the country for last 13 months through using the infrastructure of the information technology division,” said the ICT state minister.

The judiciary are continuing its services through virtual court, E-commerce is functioning for commodity supply which are resulted from the digital Bangladesh, he added.

Speaking about government initiatives to fight against Covid-19, the ICT state minister said the government is doing everything to curb the infection of the corona virus, adding the government is introducing central oxygen supply system at 492 upazila health complex in 64 districts in phases with corona virus treatment there.

Chaired by Natore deputy commissioner M Shahriaz, the programme also was connected virtually, among others, by Director General of the Department of Health Services Professor Dr Abul Basar Mohammad Khurshid Alam, Civil Surgeon of Natore Dr Kazi Mizanur Rahman, Singra Upazila Awami League president Advocate Wahidur Rahman Sheikh, Shingra Upazila Parishad chairman Shafiqul Islam, Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Samirul Islam and Singra Municipality Mayor Jannatul Ferdous.
