1,100 farmers of Pirgachha upazila get agri-incentives

RANGPUR, April 13, 2021 (BSS) – The Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) distributed special agriculture incentives in terms of seed and fertilisers among 1,100 small and marginal farmers of Pirgachha upazila in the district this afternoon.

The incentives were distributed in an informal function arranged strictly maintaining physical distancing at Pirgachha upazila parishad premises to assist small and marginal farmers in cultivating Aush rice crop during this Kharif-1 season.

Pirgachha Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Sheikh Shamsul Arefin distributed the incentives among the beneficiary farmers as the chief guest with Pirgachha Upazila Agriculture Officer Agriculturist Shamimur Rahman in then chair.

Vice-chairman of Pirgachha upazila parishad Ariful Haque Litan, Upazila Agriculture Extension Officer Agriculturist Lokman Alam and Upazila Plant Protection Officer Agriculturist Abdul Latif attended the function as special guests.

Each of the beneficiary farmers received five kg high yielding variety seeds of Aush rice, 10-kg of Muriate of Potash and 20-kg Di-ammonium Phosphate fertilisers free of costs to cultivate Aush rice on one bigha of land each.

On the occasion, Agriculturist Shamimur urged farmers to sincerely continue agri-activities and enhance food output, maintain physical distancing and abide by the health directives to prevent community transmission of coronavirus (COVID-19).

The chief guest suggested beneficiary farmers making best use of the cost-free incentives allocated by the government and cultivate high yielding varieties of Aush rice on their crop lands to increase rice output for ensuring national food security.
