74,928 get second dose of COVID-19 vaccine in Rangpur

RANGPUR, April 13, 2021 (BSS) – A total of 74,928 citizens got the second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine with inoculation of 21,689 more people today with the second dose in Rangpur division.

Health officials said the 21,689 citizens, who were inoculated with the second dose of the COVID-19 vaccines today include 14,131 male and 7,558 female of all eight districts in the division.

“The total of 74,928 second dose recipient citizens, including 52,380 male and 22,548 female of the division, previously got the first dose at least two months ago,” Divisional Director (Health) Dr Md Ahad Ali told BSS today.

The district-wise break-up of the second dose recipient 74,928 citizens stands at 13,912 in Rangpur, 8,683 in Panchagarh, 11,023 in Nilphamari, 4,305 in Lalmonirhat, 6,580 in Kurigram, 7,342 in Thakurgaon, 15,591 in Dinajpur and 7,492 in Gaibandha.

“Meanwhile, a total 2,801 citizens, including 1,628 male and 1,173 female, were inoculated with the first dose of the jabs today in the division,” Dr Ali said.

The total number of citizens who got the first dose of the vaccine now rose to 5,83,235, including 3,49,744 male and 2,33,491 female, with inoculation of more 2,801 people today in the division.

The district-wise break-up of the first dose recipient 5,83,235 citizens stands at 1,66,546 in Rangpur, 43,301 in Panchagarh, 74,567 in Nilphamari, 36,655 in Lalmonirhat, 45,396 in Kurigram, 48,248 in Thakurgaon, 1,07,290 in Dinajpur and 61,232 in Gaibandha.

Taking to BSS today after taking the second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine today at Rangpur Medical College Hospital (RpMCH) vaccination centre, a number of citizens said that they were feeling normal without any side effects.

They thanked the RpMCH authorities for conducting the first and second dose of the vaccination programme simultaneously in an orderly manner strictly following the health directives.

Chief of Divisional Coronavirus Service and Prevention Task Force and Principal of RpMC Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnobi Lyzu said inoculation of registered citizens with the first and second doses of the jabs are continuing smoothly in Rangpur division.

He urged everyone to remain at home and abide by the health directives and hygiene rules and wear masks while remaining outside even after taking the first and second doses of the jabs to remain safe from the coronavirus infection.
