CPD for running economic activities following health guidelines

DHAKA, April 12,2021 (BSS) – The Centre for Policy Dialogue(CPD) today suggested for running uninterrupted economic activities even in limited scale with strict adherence to health safety guidelines and other rules, set by the by the government during the sharp surge of COVID-19 pandemic.

The Center for Policy Dialogue (CPD) today arranged the virtual dialogue titled- “How to cope with the second wave of the Global pandemic Covid-19” , said a press release.

Executive director of CPD Dr Fahmida Khatun said the rate of infection has largely increased this year in comparison to last year. So everyone should be more careful about this and follow health guidelines strictly.

She also stressed the need for keeping the production process in mills and factories as usual side by side lessening health risks.

Former president of the Bangladesh Federation of Industrial and Commercial Committees (FBCCI) and former president of the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) Md. Shafiul Islam Mohiuddin said, `We have to learn to live with the Coronavirus’.

Besides, he said Bangladesh’s ability to deal with the pandemic through getting vaccines is imperative and called upon all to work together to this end .

Dr. ASM Alamgir, Chief Scientific Officer, Institute of Epidemiology , Disease Control and Research (IEDCR); Damushtakhosen, Advisor, IEDCR; Dr. AM Shamim, Managing Director, LabAid Limited; Taslima Akhtar, President, Bangladesh Garment Workers’ Union; Helaluddin, President, Bangladesh Shop Owners Association and Faruk Ahmed, Secretary General, Bangladesh Employers Federation (BEF) and Secretary, Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI), among others, also spoke at the dialogue.
