Sales of milk, egg, meat at fair prices start in Rajshahi
RAJSHAHI, April 12, 2021 (BSS)- Like other parts of the country, sales of milk, egg and meat started at fair prices in Rajshahi city and all district headquarters and upazilas under Rajshahi division since yesterday.
Respective district administrations and district livestock offices are jointly implementing the selling activities in collaboration with dairy and poultry farmers’ association aimed at ensuring nutrition to people for enhancing their immunity to cope with the COVID-19 pandemic situation.
In Rajshahi city, Deputy Commissioner Abdul Jalil launched the programme in a simple ceremony arranged on behalf of the Livestock and Dairy Development Project (LDDP) on Sunday.
District Livestock Officer Dr Ismail Hossain and others concerned were present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Abdul Jalil urged the authorities concerned to ensure a coordinated management to conduct the programme successfully to enable people in purchasing milk, eggs and fish easily in a hassle-free way to meet their nutrition and increase immune system.
He said the government has started selling milk, eggs and meat in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic and upcoming Ramadan to meet protein demand of the population and enhance their immune system.
Besides, he suggested people consuming protein-enriched milk, eggs and fish to strengthen their immune system and enhance disease resistant capacity in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.
Under the programme, the three protein enriched foodstuffs are being sold at lower prices than market prices using 10 mobile trucks in each of the eight districts under Rajshahi division, he said.
Dr Ismail Hossain said consumers can easily get milk, eggs and meat at fair prices from mobile trucks at their doorsteps during the COVID-19 pandemic and holy month of Ramadan.
