3,970 receive 2nd dose of Covid-19 vaccines in Khulna

KHULNA, April 11, 2021 (BSS) – A total of 3,970 people have received COVID-19 vaccines in Khulna as the second dose vaccination campaign was launched on April 7.

Of them, at least 1,918 people received the vaccines at government hospitals in the city corporation area while 2,052 took in nine Upazila Health Complex centers of the district, Dr Niaz Mohammad, Khulna Civil Surgeon (CS), told BSS today.

Besides, a total of 9,486 people have received the second dose of Covid-19 vaccines in the city and district though the weeklong lockdown continues here.

“The vaccination drive was conducted at two hospitals in the city corporation and nine Upazila Health Complex centers while continuing to give the first dose to the people of Khulna who have registered at the same venues,” the CS said, adding that the immunization programme is being begin at 8 am and continue till 3.30 pm every day.

A total of 707 people– 361 of city corporation area and 346 of nine upazilas of the district– received the first dose vaccines today, the health official said.

Besides, a total of 1,69,257 people– 1,00,345 are male and 68,912 female—of the district have so far been received the first dose of Covid-19 vaccines as the nationwide inoculation was started on February 7.

Meanwhile, the last day of weeklong lockdown is being passed off peacefully today to prevent further spread of the lethal virus.

“All types of shops and kitchen markets including pharmaceuticals and restaurants in Khulna are opened and closed during this time of lockdown in compliance with the instructions issued by the government,” said Khulna deputy commissioner Md Helal Hossain.

“Separate mobile teams are conducting drives against those who violate the government instructions,” he said, adding that government order violators will face stern legal action.
