China’s bulk commodity market expands in March

BEIJING, April 11 ,2021(BSS/XINHUA) – China’s bulk commodity market in March showed signs of recovery with steady expansion in sales, industrial data showed.

The China Bulk Merchandise Index (CBMI), a gauge of domestic bulk commodity market growth, stood above the boom-or-bust line of 100 percent to reach 102.1 percent in March. It is up 0.4 percentage points from February, the highest since December 2020, the China Federation of Logistics and Purchasing (CFLP) said.

The uptick indicated significant warm-up signs in China’s bulk commodity market as production activities picked up the pace, according to the CFLP.

The sub-index for bulk commodity sales picked up in March while the sub-indices for supply and stocks dropped, said the CFLP.

It predicted that the domestic bulk commodity market would continue the upward trend with increasing demand and an improving business climate.
