15,807 coronavirus patients recover in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, April 11, 2021 (BSS) – The number of recovered coronavirus (COVID-19) patients rose to 15,807 with the healing of 39 more infected persons on Saturday in Rangpur division where the infection rate continues rising hastily in recent weeks.

Health officials said the number of total infected patients rose to 16,860 as 63 new COVID-19 positive cases were reported on Saturday after testing 384 collected samples with the daily infection rate of 16.41 percent in the division.

“Among the total of 16,860 infected patients, 15,807 have healed with the average recovery rate of 93.75 percent,” Focal Person of COVID-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui told BSS today.

The 15,807 recovered patients include 4,040 of Rangpur, 782 of Panchagarh, 1,357 of Nilphamari, 963 of Lalmonirhat, 1,012 of Kurigram, 1,490 of Thakurgaon, 4,702 of Dinajpur and 1,461 of Gaibandha districts in the division.

The district-wise break up of total 16,860 patients stands at 4,306 in Rangpur, 814 in Panchagarh, 1,450 in Nilphamari, 1,004 in Lalmonirhat, 1,071 in Kurigram, 1,586 in Thakurgaon, 5,046 in Dinajpur and 1,583 in Gaibandha of the division.

Since the beginning of outbreak of the pandemic, a total of 1,18,351 collected samples of Rangpur division were tested till Saturday, and of them, 16,860 were found COVID-19 positive with an average infection rate of 14.25 percent.

Talking to BSS, Divisional Director (Health) Dr Md Ahad Ali said the number of fatalities remained steady at 319 with no more death reported from anywhere in the division on Saturday.

The district-wise break up of the 319 fatalities stands at 73 in Rangpur, 115 in Dinajpur, 34 in Thakurgaon, 32 in Nilphamari, 16 in Kurigram, 20 in Panchagarh, 18 in Gaibandha and 11 in Lalmonirhat districts.

“The average casualty rate currently stands at 1.89 percent in the division,” he said.

Among the total 16,860 COVID-19 infected patients, 91 are now undergoing treatments at institutional isolation, including 11 at ICU beds, after recovery of 15,807 patients and 319 deaths while 668 are remaining in home isolation.

“Since the beginning, a total of 99,265 people of the division were put in institutional isolation or home quarantines, and of them, 95,369 were released till Sunday morning,” Dr. Ali added.

Meanwhile, a total number of registered 5,75,983 citizens, including 3,45,562 male and 2,30,421 female, got the first dose of the vaccines with inoculation of more 1,586 people with the first dose on Saturday in the division.

“Of them, 22,678 citizens including 16,980 male and 5,698 female, who got the first dose of the vaccines two months ago, were inoculated with the second dose till Saturday in the division,” Dr Ali added.

Chief of Divisional Coronavirus Service and Prevention Task Force and Principal of Rangpur Medical College Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnobi Lyzu urged people to properly abide by the health directives to check the rapidly rising COVID-19 infection rate.
