Pakistan U19’s tour of Bangladesh postponed
DHAKA, April 10, 2021 (BSS)—The series between Bangladesh U-19 and Pakistan U-19 teams was postponed due to the escalation of the Covid-19 situation in the country and the upcoming complete lockdown.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) are planning to hold the series after Eid-ul-Fitr if the situation improves.
The Pakistan youths were scheduled to arrive in Bangladesh on April 17 as per a new schedule to play a four-day match and five youth ODIs against the host Bangladesh U-19 team. But due to the country’s Covid-19 situation, the two boards have reached a decision to suspend it as the government is set to declare a nationwide lockdown from April 14.
“We are suspending the series at the moment, considering the restrictions that are in place due to the Covid-19 situation,” BCB’s National Game Development Manager Abu Emam Mohammad Kawsar said here today.
“If the situation improves, we will try to organize the series in consultation with the Pakistan Cricket Board at a convenient time after Eid-ul-Fitr.”
Earlier, the Pakistan U-19 team was scheduled to visit Bangladesh on April 11. But when the government announced a nationwide lockdown, it was postponed to April 17.
Earlier the National Cricket League (NCL) was postponed after two rounds due to the rise of Covid-19 cases in the country.
