FAIZABAD, Afghanistan, April 10, 2021 (BSS/Xinhua) – At least 26 militants, including a Taliban shadow district chief, were killed and 23 other militants wounded when Afghan Air Force launched airstrikes in the country’s northern Badakhshan province Friday night, an army source confirmed.

“The accurate strikes were conducted in surrounding areas of Wardoj district. The intelligence reports confirmed that Qari Haidar, who served as Taliban shadow district chief for Wardoj, was among the killed,” Abdul Hadi Jamal from the army’s Pamir 217 Corps told Xinhua.

A Taliban control and command center and six defense positions of the militants were also destroyed, he said, adding that no civilians were affected as the Taliban hideout is in a remote area.
A handful of weapon and ammunition were also destroyed, he said.

The militant group has not responded to the report so far.
