Narail district win gold in women’s hockey
DHAKA, April 09, 2021 (BSS)- Narail district team won the gold medal in the women’s hockey of Bangabandhu 9th Bangladesh Games beating Jhenaidah district team by a solitary goal in the final held at Moulana Bhasani National Hockey Stadium.
In the day’s final, Nomina Karmakar scored the all-important goal for Narail in the 18th minute of the match.
Jhenaidah however tried to stage a fight back at the end of the match creating some chances but Narail’s custodian Kajal Biswas foiled all the attempts brilliantly.
Narail coach Ustad Fazlu said the girls fulfilled his dream of winning the gold. They girls gained substantial improvement and they have to be promoted.
Jhenaidah coach Jamal Hossain blamed their luck for the day’s defeat by saying that his girls wasted few easy opportunities during the proceeding.
