2,055 people took 2nd dose of Covid-19 vaccine in Khulna

KHULNA, April 9, 2021 (BSS) – A total of 2,055 people took the second dose of Covid-19 vaccine on Thursday, said a press release issued by Khulna Civil Surgeon Office here today.

Of them 1,078 people have received the second dose at government hospitals in the city corporation area while 9,77 people got in nine Upazila Health Complex centers in the district.

Khulna City Corporation (KCC) Mayor Talukder Abdul Khaleque, who got his first dose earlier, received his second dose of the Covid-19 vaccine at Khulna Medical College Hospital on Thursday.

Describing the various steps taken by the government to make the vaccination programme a total success, he urged people to be taken the second dose vaccine after receiving SMS.

The mayor made the remarks to local journalists after taking the second dose vaccine at the KMCH booth.

“Everybody should be aware of those who are spreading rumours and propaganda about covid-19 vaccination,” Khaleque said, adding that journalists can play a vital role against such types of vested quarters.

He asked authorities of different government hospitals to provide 24 hours service for the people who become sick after receiving vaccines.

Khulna Deputy Commissioner Md Helal Hossain, Khulna Civil Surgeon Dr Newaz Mahmud, Director of Khulna Medical College Hospital Dr Manjur Morshed, Khulna Medical College Vice-principal Dr Mehedi Newaz, KCC Health Officer Dr Abdullah were present, among others, during the period.

Talking to BSS today, Khulna Civil Surgeon said a total of 13 inoculation centers have been set up in the city corporation area while nine others in each Upazila Health Complex for the implementation of Covid-19 vaccination activities.

Khulna Medical College Hospital, Khulna General Hospital, Office of the Civil Surgeon, Shaheed Sheikh Abu Naser Specialised Hospital, Khalishpur Lal Hospital, Khalishpur Nagar Matrisadan, Tutpara Taltola Matrisadan Hospital, Amira Banu Nagar Matrisadan, Baitipara Nagar Matrisadan, Phulbarigate Chest Disease Hospital, Bangladesh Navy Upashom Hospital and Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) Hospital are the vaccination point of Khulna City Corporation.

The Civil Surgeon said people who did not find any SMS after taking the first dose of vaccine have no need to go to the vaccination booth to receive the second dose, adding: “SMS and registration are required as those who receive the vaccine will be given certificates.”

He also continued that a total of 1, 25,000 vaccines have reached Khulna and the vaccination process will continue in all Khulna centers from 8 am to 4 pm every day.
