Auto-rickshaw driver killed in city road accident
DHAKA, April 7, 2021 (BSS) – A CNG-run auto-rickshaw driver was killed after a bus rammed into his vehicle from behind at Azimpur near Newmarket in the capital this morning.
The victim was identified as Golam Mostafa, 61.
Lalbagh thana police arrested the bus driver named Jalal, 31, from the spot, in-charge of Dhaka Medical College Police Camp Md Bachchu Miah confirmed.
Police said the accident occured when a bus hit the CNG-run auto-rickshaw near Newmarket area at 7:15am, leaving driver of the auto-rickshaw critically injured.
Soon after the accident, locals rushed to the spot and sent Mostafa to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where on-duty doctors declared him dead.
Police also seized the bus.
