5,72,692 get COVID-19 vaccines in Rangpur

RANGPUR, April 7,2021(BSS)–The total number of COVID-19 vaccine recipients now rose to 5,72,692 with inoculation of 1,994 more people today in Rangpur division.

Health officials said the number of vaccine recipients is declining due to shortfall of COVID-19 vaccines amidst sharp surge in the infection.

“The 1,994 citizens, who were inoculated with the COVID-19 vaccines today in the division, include 1,072 male and 922 female,” Rangpur Divisional Director (Health) Dr. Md. Ahad Ali told BSS.

A total of 5,72,692 citizens got vaccinated so far with COVID-19 vaccines including 3,43,683 male and 2,29,009 female of all eight districts in the division.

The vaccine recipients are feeling well without remarkable side effects except 73 people who experienced little adverse effect since launching of the COVID-19 vaccination campaign on February 7 in the division.

“The district-wise break-up of 5,72,692 vaccine recipients stands at 1,64,724 in Rangpur, 42,071 in Panchagarh, 72,850 in Nilphamari, 36,244 in Lalmonirhat, 44,614 in Kurigram, 47,505 in Thakurgaon, 1,04,556 in Dinajpur and 60,128 in Gaibandha,” Dr. Ali added.

Chief of Divisional Coronavirus Service and Prevention Task Force and Principal of Rangpur Medical College Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnobi Lyzu urged the people to abide by the health directives for containing the rapid surge of the infection rate of the lethal virus.
