‘Maritime Safety Week-2021’ begins tomorrow

DHAKA, April 6, 2021 (BSS) – ‘Maritime Safety Week-2021’ will be
celebrated in the country from April 7-13 with the theme ‘Oath of
Mujib Year, Waterways will become Safe’.

President Mohammad Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina
issued separate messages on the occasion of Maritime Security Week
2021, said a press release here.

The inauguration of ‘Maritime Safety Week-2021’ will be held in the
meeting room of the Ministry of Shipping tomorrow morning. Home
Minister Asaduzzaman Khan will be present as the chief guest at the
inaugural function.

State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury, Chairman of
Parliamentary Standing Committee on Shipping Major (Retd) Rafiqul
Islam Bir Uttam and Shipping Ministry Secretary Mohammad Mezbah Uddin
Chowdhury will be present as special guests at the inaugural function.

Commodore AZM Jalal Uddin, Director General, Department of Shipping,
will preside over the function.

The Department of Shipping under the Ministry of Shipping is
observing Maritime Safety Week this year like every year to improve
the quality of passenger service including making the inland
navigation safe and uninterrupted.

A supplement will be published on the occasion of Maritime Safety
Week 2021. Awareness posters and banners will be displayed in the port
areas of riverine districts.
