Army, Sylhet storm into final
DHAKA, April 06, 2021 (BSS)- Bangladesh Army and Sylhet district team stormed into the final of Bangabandhu 9th Bangladesh Games Football eliminating their respective rivals in the semifinals held today at Shaheed Dhirendranath Datta Stadium in Cumilla.
The final between the two sides will be held tomorrow at the same venue at 3.30 pm, following the place deciding match between Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protishtan (BKSP) and Satkhira district football team at 1 pm.
In the day’s first semifinal, Bangladesh Army beat BKSP by 3-1 goals with Kawsar, Manik and Sanjoy scored one goal each for the winners’ while Touhidul netted the lone goal for the lossers’.
In the day’s second semifinal, Sylhet district booked their place of final defeating Satkhira district also by the same identical margin of 3-1 goals.
In the proceeding, Zillur, Rezaul and Nafees Iqbal scored one goal each for Sylhet while Yeasin Ali netted the lone goal for Satkhira.
A total of ten teams, eight district teams along with BKSP and Bangladesh Army, are taking part in the meet, jointly organized by Bangladesh Football Federation and Bangladesh Olympic Association.
Men’s football teams (grouping):
Group A – Netrokona district, Bangladesh Army, Sylhet District, Pabna district and Khulna district.
Group B – Rangpur district, Cumilla district, Cox’s Bazar district, Satkhira district and Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Prothistan.
