Govt imposes lockdown to halt spread of COVID-19: Maleque
DHAKA, April 6, 2021 (BSS) – Health and Family Welfare Minister Zahid Maleque today said the government has imposed countrywide lockdown incorporating 11-point restrictions to combat sharp rise of COVID-19 pandemic.
“People should extend their cooperation to the government for implementing seven-day lockdown to fight the deadly virus,” he made the comments while visiting Dhaka North City Corporation Market Hospital at city’s Mohakhali, an official release said.
Maleque said, “If we do not follow health guidelines issued by the government, both COVID-19 fatality and infection may rise in an alarming rate. I am urging the people to follow health rules strictly to protect themselves from the lethal virus.”
Preparatory works for installing 200 ICU beds and 1,000 isolation beds at Dhaka North City Corporation Market Hospital are underway, he said adding, “We are expecting to run the hospital within next two weeks.”
