One held with 15-kg ganja in Rangpur

RANGPUR, April 6, 2021 (BSS) – Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-13 seized 15 kgs of smuggled ganja, 30 bottles of phensedyl and two bottles of foreign wine and arrested a presumed drug trader from Taluk Dharmodas area in the city last night.

“An operational team of RAB-13 set up a check post there on the Rangpur-Dhaka highway, searched a bus and arrested the man with the ganja, other contraband goods, one mobile phone set and cash money from his possession,” a press release said today.

The arrested drug trader was identified as Md Aminul Islam, 35, of Panchagarh district.

During primary interrogation, the arrested person admitted that he had been involved in drug trading for a long time.

“After filing a case in this connection, the elite force handed over the arrested drug traders to Tazhat police station of Rangpur Metropolitan Police,” the release said, adding that investigation continues to nab other cohorts of the arrested person.
