Tofail for developing infrastructures to boost trade

DHAKA, July 18, 2018 (BSS) – Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed today said developed communication system and necessary cooperation to the businessmen have to be ensured for the expansion of country’s trade and business.

“There is no alternative to developing infrastructure to attain success in trade and business in this competitive world,” said the minister at the first meeting of the National Trade and Transport Facilitation Committee at his ministry office.

Mentioning that trade and business on online-based market places are getting popularity globally, he said: “We have to modernize export and import facilities in sea, river and land ports.”

Tofail laid emphasis on the coordination between the ministry and divisions to complete any development work in time.

The government has taken regional connectivity project, phase-I, with the help of World Bank to ensure the development of trade and business related physical infrastructures and systematic structure as well as coordination for the women entrepreneurs for expansion of their business. The project is expected to complete by December 2021.

Commerce secretary Shubhashish Bose, Road Division senior secretary Khandker Anwarul Islam, Legislative and Parliament Division senior secretary Mohammad Shahidul Haque, Finance Division secretary (in-charge) Abdur Rouf Talukder, Rail Division secretary Mofazzal Hossain, shipping secretary M Abdus Samad, posts and telecommunications secretary Shyam Sundar Shikder, ICT Division secretary Zuyena Aziz and officials of concerned ministries and divisions were present in the meeting.
