33 more test positive for COVID-19 in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, April 4, 2021 (BSS) – Thirty-three more people were diagnosed with coronavirus (COVID-19) positive today in Rangpur division where the infection rate continues rising hurriedly in recent weeks.

Health officials said the 33 new cases were reported after diagnosing 282 samples at the two COVID-19 Laboratories in the division today at the daily infection rate of 11.70 percent.

Among the 33 new patients diagnosed today, 19 were reported positive after diagnosing 188 samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) in Rangpur city.

“The 19 new patients include 10 from Rangpur, four from Gaibandha, three from Kurigram and two from Lalmonirhat Dinajpur districts,” Principal of Rangpur Medical College Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnobi Lyzu told BSS tonight.

On the other hand, 14 new patients were reported after diagnosing 94 samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC) in Dinajpur today.

“The 14 new patients include 11 from Dinajpur, two from Nilphamari and one from Thakurgaon districts,” Principal of MARMC Professor Dr. Syed Nazir Hossain told BSS after completing the testing process at 7:45 pm.

Talking to BSS, Focal Person of COVID-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui said the number of COVID-19 patients rose to 16,448 as 33 new positive cases were reported today from across the division.

The district-wise break up of total 16,448 patients stands at 4,207 in Rangpur, 808 in Panchagarh, 1,410 in Nilphamari, 980 in Lalmonirhat, 1,045 in Kurigram, 1,552 in Thakurgaon, 4,916 in Dinajpur and 1,530 in Gaibandha of the division.
