Mustafizur leaves country for IPL

DHAKA, April 4, 2021 (BSS) – Bangladesh fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman left the country for India today to play the Indian Premier League (IPL). He was roped in by the Rajasthan Royals for his base price INR 1 crore.

After landing at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport from the New Zealand tour, Mustafizur stayed at the airport rather than heading home. After his wife joined him in the airport, he left the country straight from there, a BCB official said. His wife will be with him during the whole tournament.

Mustafizur will have to stay in quarantine in Mumbai for seven days before joining the team practice. Rajasthan Royals will begin their IPL campaign, taking on Punjab Kings on April 12.

This time Mustafizur’s chance to make him available for Rajasthan’s first XI is brightened due to the injury of Jofra Archar.

Ace all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan is the other Bangladeshi player who is playing the IPL. Kolkata Knight Riders roped in Shakib for INR 3.2 crore. Shakib had already reached Mumbai and is in quarantine now.

KKR will start their tournament on April 11, facing off Sunrisers Hyderabad.
