RAJSHAHI, April 4, 2021 (BSS) – Police arrested a Jamaat activist on charge of his involvement in distorting a photo of the Prime Minister (PM) and sharing it in his facebook timeline.
According to the police sources, the arrested person has been identified as Rakibul Islam, 35, son of Abul Kashem of Meherchandi area under Matiher Police Station in Rajshahi city.
On a tip-off, a police team arrested the person from Rajshahi University Railway Station area around 9.45 pm on Saturday.
Siddiqur Rahman, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Matiher Police Station, said the arrested person has confessed that he had distorted a PM’s photo and uploaded it in his facebook page recently.
He also admitted that he is involved in Jamaat politics, the police officer added.
OC Rahman said a case under Digital Security Act has been lodged in this connection. Police sent the arrested person to court today.
