RAJSHAHI, April 4, 2021(BSS)- A total of 142 more people have tested positive for COVID-19 in seven districts of the division in the last 24 hours till Saturday, climbing the number of infections to 27,214.
The new daily infection figure shows a significant surging trend compared to the previous day’s figure of 66, said the health department sources.
Among the infected patients, 24,848 have, so far, been cured from the lethal virus with 30 new recoveries found during the time, sources said.
A total of 3,127 infected patients are now undergoing treatment at designated hospitals here.
Besides, all the positive cases for COVID-19 have, so far, been brought under necessary treatment while 6,852 were kept in isolation units of hospitals for institutional supervision. Of them, 6,046 have by now been released.
On the other hand, 81 more people have been sent to home and institutional quarantine afresh while 43 others were released in the division over the last 24 hours till 8 am today.
The number of deaths from the disease stands at 413 including 264 in Bogura and 56 in Rajshahi with no fatality reported afresh today, said Dr Habibul Ahsan Talukder, Divisional Director of Health.
Of the total new positive cases, the highest 47 were detected in Bogura, followed by 40 in Rajshahi
city, 23 in Joypurhat, 17 in Sirajganj, nine in Pabna, five in Natore and one in Naogaon districts.
With the new detected cases, the district-wise break-up of the COVID-19 cases now stands at 6,633 in Rajshahi including 5,113 in its city, 844 in Chapainawabganj, 1,719 in Naogaon, 1,330 in Natore, 1,440 in Joypurhat, 10,494 in Bogura, 2,934 in Sirajganj and 1,820 in Pabna.
A total of 67,310 people have, so far, been kept under quarantine since March 10 last year to prevent community transmission of the coronavirus (COVID-19).
Of them, 65,931 have, by now, been released as they were given clearance certificates after completing their respective 14-day quarantine period.
Meanwhile, a total of 6,12,500 people have been vaccinated for Covid-19 in all eight districts of Rajshahi division till Saturday last since the countrywide vaccination programme began on February 7.
Of them, 5,213 people including 2,028 females were inoculated on Saturday, said Dr Habibul Ahsan Talukder.
He also said 967 people including 367 females received vaccines in Rajshahi, 192 including 73 females in Chapainawabganj, 139 including 46 females in Natore, 310 including 132 females in Naogaon Saturday.
Besides, a total of 556 persons including 227 females got vaccines in Pabna, 1,031 including 422 females in Sirajganj, 1,536 including 557 females in Bogura, 224 including 101 females in Joypurhat and 258 including 103 females in Rajshahi city on the day, he added.
