Spectacular dance performance of Bangladeshi artistes enthrals Indian
audience

NEW DELHI, April 04, 2021 (BSS) – As part of joint celebration of “Mujib
Year” and 50 years of Bangladesh-India diplomatic relations, a spectacular
“Dance Performance” by Bangladeshi artistes was organsied here last evening,
enchanting audiences largely.

Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi and Indian Centre for Cultural
Relations (ICCR) jointly arranged the show at the Sushma Swaraj Bhawan in the
Indian city to mark the occasions.

Performers of the Srishti Cultural Centre, a popular Bangladeshi cultural
group, performed five dances with popular Bangladeshi songs highlighting the
country’s cultural diversity, patriotism, 1971 War of Liberation and historic
March 7 speech of Bangabandhu.

A good number of dance lovers comprising diplomats based in New Delhi,
officials, cultural personalities and journalists enjoyed the performance as
Anisul Islam Hero choreographed the show.

Their colourful dance performance added an extra attraction when videos of
the dance were displayed in a giant digital screen installed at the back of
stage in the highly sophisticated auditorium.

The programme was aired live on ICCR youtube and facebook channels so that
hundreds of social media users at home and abroad could enjoy the Bangladeshi
dance performance jointly organised by the two friendly countries.

Bangladesh High Commissioner to India Muhammad Imran and Director General
of ICCR Dinesh K Patnaik, among others, were present on the occasion.

The Bangladesh envoy in his opening speech highlighted Bangladesh-India
relations that grew over the years based on shared history, culture and
people to people contact.

In this connection, he mentioned with gratitude the India’s support to the
cause of Bangladesh’s Great 1971 War of Liberation.

Referring to Bangladesh’s economic progress during the couple of years
under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Imran said with
the development, purchasing power of Bangladeshi people has increased to a
great extend with the raise of per capita income.

With the progress, he said many Bangladeshi people used to come to India
for their shopping, medical and study purposes every year.

He also mentioned Bangladesh’s graduation from Least Developed Country to
Developing one.

He emphasised further increasing cultural cooperation between the two
countries through exchange of programmes and visit of cultural personalities
and groups.

Paying tribute to the memory of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman,
Director General of ICCR Dinesh K Patnaik said that the people of India will
always remember Bangabandhu for his uncompromising and charismatic leadership
towards achieving independence in 1971.

He lauded the sincere role of the people of the two countries for taking
forward the Bangladesh-India friendship which is based on shared sacrifice of
blood to a new height.

He hoped that the friendship would grow further in the days to come for the
betterment of the two nations.

Earlier, the Bangladesh mission in New Delhi organised a reception on the
chancery premises on March 31 evening marking the 50th years of Independence
and National Day of Bangladesh.

India’s Minister for Railways, Commerce and Industries Piyush Goyal
attended the reception as the chief guest.

Diplomats based in New Delhi, 1971 war veterans, elites, journalists,
professionals, and academics, among others, attended it.
