50 more test positive for COVID-19 in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, April 3, 2021 (BSS) – Fifty more people were diagnosed with coronavirus (COVID-19) positive today in Rangpur division where the infection rate continues rising hurriedly in recent weeks.

Health officials said the 50 new cases were reported after diagnosing 376 samples at two COVID-19 Laboratories in the division today at the daily infection rate of 13.30 percent.

Among the 50 new patients diagnosed today, 32 were reported positive after diagnosing 188 samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) in Rangpur city.

“The 32 new patients include 14 from Rangpur, four from Kurigram, 11 from Gaibandha, two from Nilphamari and one from Dinajpur districts,” Principal of Rangpur Medical College Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnobi Lyzu told BSS tonight.

On the other hand, 18 new patients were reported after diagnosing 188 samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC) in Dinajpur today.

“The 18 new patients include 16 from Dinajpur and two from Nilphamari districts,” Principal of MARMC Professor Dr. Syed Nazir Hossain told BSS after completing the testing process at 7:30 pm.

Talking to BSS, Focal Person of COVID-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui said the number of COVID-19 patients rose to 16,380 as 50 new positive cases were reported today from across the division.

“The district-wise break up of total 16,390 patients stands at 4,199 in Rangpur, 806 in Panchagarh, 1,403 in Nilphamari, 978 in Lalmonirhat, 1,042 in Kurigram, 1,547 in Thakurgaon, 4,893 in Dinajpur and 1,521 in Gaibandha of the division.,” he added.
