BGMEA election to be held tomorrow
DHAKA, Apr 3, 2021 (BSS) – The biennial election (2021-2023) to the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) will be held tomorrow.
The election will take place simultaneously from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm at Hotel Radisson Blu in Dhaka and the regional office of BGMEA in Chattogram.
As per the election schedule, a total of 1,853 RMG owners who are also members of the association, will cast their votes in Dhaka while some 461 members will cast their votes in Chattogram.
Talking to BSS, Habibullah N Karim, a member of the election conducting board, said that all the necessary preparations have been taken to successfully hold the election.
“All members will have to cast their votes through strictly following the health guidelines and also wearing masks. We’ve also requested all to come at the polling centers wearing masks,” he added.
Managing director of Giant Textile Faruque Hassan is contesting in the polls as a panel leader from the Sommillito Parishad while Hannan Group managing director ABM Shamsuddin Mia is contesting as panel leader from the Forum Panel.
Earlier on January 12, the election schedule to the BGMEA election was announced while the unofficial results to the election would be announced tomorrow after counting of the votes.
The final results will be announced on April 10.
The new office bearers of BGMEA will take over their charge on April 20.
