Scientific methods are being implemented in livestock sector: Rezaul
DHAKA, April 03, 2021 (BSS)- Fisheries and Livestock Minister SM Rezaul Karim today said that modern and scientific methods are being implemented for the sustainable development of the livestock sector in the country.
“The government, led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, is working to ensure sustainable development. We need to keep up with the discoveries of science for sustainable development. That is why we have set up a quality control laboratory. It will be possible to confirm whether the animal food that we will export or import from abroad is standard or nutritious through scientific experiments in this laboratory,” he said.
The minister was speaking as the chief guest at a discussion on the activities and rules and regulations of the laboratory for quality control of livestock production materials and animal feed at a city hotel.
He added that in any case, the country must be kept running. No matter what the environment is, food, clothing, shelter, education, medical care must be maintained, he said.
Production must continue amid corona situation, he said, adding that if rice, pulses, grains, fish, meat, milk and eggs are not produced, there will be no supply of food.
He said the livestock sector in Bangladesh was once extremely neglected but now, under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, a radical change has taken place in this sector.
“Various non-governmental organizations have been involved in this sector. As a result of working together, this sector (livestock sector) is moving forward. It is not possible for the government alone to ensure everything in a country. It is the responsibility of every citizen to contribute to the development of the state,” he said.
“That is why we are encouraging the private sector. Because the private sector is part of the development of the state. The government will provide all possible assistance to the private sector for the development of the livestock sector,” he added.
Department of Livestock Services Director (Administration) Dr. Manzoor Mohammad presided over the programme while Fisheries and Livestock Secretary Raunak Mahmud attended it as special guest.
