Bangladesh Tour Operator and Guide Act-2021 placed in JS

SANGSAD BHABAN, April 03, 2021 (BSS) – Bangladesh Tour Operator and Guide (Registration and Operation) Act 2021 was placed in the Jatiya Sangsad today aiming to promote the tourism industries of the country.

State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism Mohammad Mahbub Ali placed the bill in the House with Speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury in the chair.

Piloting the bill, he said the proposed act will be enacted to register tour operators and tourist guides to improve their services.

The state minister said the proposed law aims to develop the tourism sector in the country by earning the trust of tourists.

A tourism authority will be formed to this end, he said, adding that all tour operators and tourist guides currently operating in the country will have to get registered under the new law.

There will be provisions for penalty in cases of violation of the new law, he added.

Earlier, the cabinet approved in principle the draft of Bangladesh Tour Operator and Guide (Registration and Operation) Act 2020 during the regular cabinet meeting.

The State minister urged the House to send the bill to the concerned parliamentary standing committee for giving a report within a month.
