1, 15,402 suspected Coronavirus samples tested in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, April 3, 2021 (BSS) – A total of 1,15,402 samples of suspected
coronavirus (COVID-19) infected people from all eight districts in Rangpur
division have been tested since the outbreak of the pandemic.

Health officials said a total of 16,340 people have so far been reported
coronavirus positive after testing the 1,15,402 samples at two COVID-19
Laboratories in the division as the average infection rate is 14.16 percent.

“The infection rate is rising again amid a declining recovery rate in the
division now,” Focal Person of COVID-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for
Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui told BSS today.

On Friday, 20 more people were reported coronavirus positive after testing
188 collected samples with the daily infection rate of 10.64 percent in the
division.

Meanwhile, 15,664 people among the total 16,340 infected persons have
recovered with the average recovery rate of 95.86 percent here where the
COVID-19 vaccination campaign continues since February 7 last.

“The district-wise break up of total 16,340 patients stands at 4,185 in
Rangpur, 806 in Panchagarh, 1,399 in Nilphamari, 978 in Lalmonirhat, 1,038 in
Kurigram, 1,547 in Thakurgaon, 4,877 in Dinajpur and 1,510 in Gaibandha of
the division.,” he added.

Currently, the 15,664 recovered patients include 4,012 of Rangpur, 776 of
Panchagarh, 1,339 of Nilphamari, 957 of Lalmonirhat, 980 of Kurigram, 1,485
of Thakurgaon, 4,650 of Dinajpur and 1,465 of Gaibandha districts.

Talking to BSS, Divisional Director (Health) Dr. Md. Ahad Ali said the
number of fatalities rose to 316 with one more death reported from Nilphamari
on Friday.

The district-wise break up of the 316 fatalities stands at 73 in Rangpur,
114 in Dinajpur, 34 in Thakurgaon, 32 in Nilphamari, 15 in Kurigram, 20 in
Panchagarh, 17 in Gaibandha and 11 in Lalmonirhat districts of the division.

“The average casualty rate currently stands at 1.93 percent in the
division,” he said.

Among the total 16,340 infected patients, 56 are undergoing treatments at
isolation units after recovery of 15,664 patients and 316 deaths while 328
are remaining in home isolations across the division.

A total of 97,604 people were put in quarantine, and of them, 94,331 were
released so far till Saturday morning in the division.

“Since launching of the vaccination campaign from February 7 last, a total
of 5,54,355 citizens, including 3,33,602 male and 2,20,753 female of the
division, were vaccinated for COVID-19 till Thursday last in the division,”
Dr Ali added.

Chief of Divisional Coronavirus Service and Prevention Task Force and
Principal of Rangpur Medical College Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnobi Lyzu said
people should abide by the health directives to check the rising coronavirus
infection.
