Razzaque calls for investment in agricultural processing
DHAKA, April 02, 2021 (BSS) – Agriculture Minister Dr Muhammad Abdur Razzaque today called upon the private industrialists of the country to invest more in the processing of agricultural products.
“The country is now producing various agricultural products throughout the year. Most of the agricultural products including tomato, pineapple and potato have low prices during the peak season. Farmers will be benefited if they can process these products. Therefore, the country’s industrialists must come forward to invest in the processing of agricultural products,” he said.
He was speaking at the ‘ACI Deepto Krishi Award-2020’ ceremony, organized by Deepto TV at its studio in city’s Tejgaon area as the chief guest.
Fisheries and Livestock Minister SM Rezaul Karim was present as the special guest on the occasion.
The agriculture minister said most people in Bangladesh are still directly or indirectly dependent on agriculture.
If agriculture sector of the country is developed, the overall development of the country will be further accelerated, he added.
Industrialization will be further accelerated by increasing employment and income of rural people and expanding the domestic market, he continued.
Awarding in agriculture is a great initiative, he said, adding that everyone should come forward to give such rewards.
“Today 10 individuals and organizations have been awarded. But through this, millions of farmers, cultivators and entrepreneurs of the country will be encouraged,” he hoped.
