Covid-19 cases reach 27,006 with new 99 in Rajshahi

RAJSHAHI, April 2, 2021(BSS)- A total of 99 more people have tested
positive for COVID-19 in seven districts of the division in the last 24 hours
till Thursday, climbing the number of infections to 27,006.

The new daily infection figure shows a slight falling compared to the
previous day’s figure of 129, said the health department sources.

Among the infected patients, 24,805 have, so far, been cured from the
lethal virus with 15 new recoveries found during the time, sources said.

A total of 3,114 infected patients are now undergoing treatment at
designated hospitals here.

Besides, all the positive cases for COVID-19 have, so far, been brought
under necessary treatment while 6,796 were kept in isolation units of
hospitals for institutional supervision. Of them, 6,033 have by now been
released.

On the other hand, 94 more people have been sent to home and institutional
quarantine afresh while 29 others were released in the division over the last
24 hours till 8 am today.

The number of deaths from the disease stands at 413 including 264 in
Bogura and 56 in Rajshahi with two more fatalities reported afresh today,
said Dr Habibul Ahsan Talukder, Divisional Director of Health.

Of the total new positive cases, the highest 55 were detected in Rajshahi
city, followed by 11 in Bogura, 10 in Sirajganj, eight in Natore, seven in
Joypurhat, five in Naogaon and three in Pabna districts.

With the new detected cases, the district-wise break-up of the COVID-19
cases now stands at 6,573 in Rajshahi including 5,055 in its city, 844 in
Chapainawabganj, 1,718 in Naogaon, 1,325 in Natore, 1,417 in Joypurhat,
10,428 in Bogura, 2,892 in Sirajganj and 1,809 in Pabna.

A total of 67,215 people have, so far, been kept under quarantine since
March 10 last year to prevent community transmission of the coronavirus
(COVID-19).

Of them, 65,887 have, by now, been released as they were given clearance
certificates after completing their respective 14-day quarantine period.

Meanwhile, a total of 6,07,287 people have been vaccinated for Covid-19 in
all eight districts of Rajshahi division till Thursday last since the
countrywide vaccination programme began on February 7.

Of them, 6,333 people including 2,723 females were inoculated on Thursday,
said Dr Habibul Ahsan Talukder.

He also said 1,006 people including 437 females received vaccines in
Rajshahi, 217 including 86 females in Chapainawabganj, 221 including 81
females in Natore, 1,461 including 685 females in Naogaon Thursday.

Besides, a total of 651 persons including 279 females got vaccines in
Pabna, 523 including 224 females in Sirajganj, 1,087 including 453 females in
Bogura, 937 including 382 females in Joypurhat and 230 including 96 females
in Rajshahi city on the day, he added.
