Fare of launch deck, seat classes rescheduled: Khalid

DHAKA, April 1, 2021 (BSS) – State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury today said the fare of only deck and seat classes of launches has been rescheduled for the corona time and the new fare will come into effect from today.

The state minister said this at a briefing in the conference room of the ministry here.

Shipping Secretary Mohammed Mezbah Uddin Chowdhury and BIWTA Chairman Commodore Golam Sadeq, among others, were present at the meeting.

Earlier in the day, the Ministry of Shipping approved BIWTA’s proposal to reschedule launch fares.

As per the government notification, the deck class and seating class fares of passenger launches have been increased by 60 percent to implement the government directive for all public transport to operate on 50 percent of their capacity.

After the rescheduling, per kilometer fare for a distance of 100 km has been fixed to Taka 2.72. For a distance of more than 100 km, passenger fare for each kilometer will be Taka 2.24 and the minimum fare will be Taka 28.80 per person.
