RANGPUR, April 1, 2021 (BSS) – The number of coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccine recipient citizens reached 5,54,355 with inoculation of more 6,499 people today in Rangpur division.

Health officials said the daily number of vaccine recipient citizens is declining in recent days due to inadequacy of COVID-19 vaccines despite huge eagerness among common people to get the vaccines across the division.

“The 6,499 citizens, who were inoculated with the COVID-19 vaccines today in the division, include 3,397 male and 3,102 female,” Rangpur Divisional Director (Health) Dr. Md. Ahad Ali told BSS this evening.

The total 5,54,355 citizens vaccinated so far with COVID-19 vaccines include 3,33,602 male and 2,20,753 female of all eight districts in the division.

All vaccine recipients are feeling okay without remarkable side effects except only 73 people who experienced temporary adverse events for a few minutes since launching of the COVID-19 vaccination campaign on February 7 in the division.

“The district-wise break-up of 5,54,355 vaccine recipients stands at 1,59,120 in Rangpur, 40,758 in Panchagarh, 70,730 in Nilphamari, 35,436 in Lalmonirhat, 43,627 in Kurigram, 46,330 in Thakurgaon, 99,831 in Dinajpur and 58,523 in Gaibandha,” Dr. Ali added.

Talking to BSS, Acting Principal of Rangpur Medical College Professor Dr. Md. Mahfuzer Rahman asked people to genuinely abide by the health directives and hygiene rules to check the rising COVID-19 infection rate in the division.
