SANGSAD BHABAN, Apr 1, 2021 (BSS) – Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury today formally informed the parliament about vacating the Jatiya Sangsad (JS) constituency 275 of Shahid Islam Papul, who was an independent lawmaker of Lakhipur-2.
The speaker informed the House of the matter as per the rules of procedure.
On January 28, a Kuwaiti court sentenced Bangladeshi lawmaker Kazi Shahidul Islam Papul to four-year rigorous imprisonment on the charges of human-trafficking and money laundering and that’s why the concerned lawmaker was declared disqualified as a lawmaker of parliament as per the constitution.
The parliamentary constituency has been declared vacant from January 28, 2021 and the parliament secretariat has published a gazette notification as per the law.
