NEW DELHI, July 18, 2018 (BSS/XINHUA) — At least eight people have been killed after their car collided with a truck and caught fire in the western Indian state of Gujarat, police said Wednesday.

The accident occurred on Rajkot-Morbi Highway near Tankara town in the state’s Morbi district.

“The car carrying nine members of a family caught fire after the head-on collision with the truck Tuesday night. One injured has been admitted to a hospital,” a police official said.

A probe has been ordered into the incident, he added.

India has the highest number of road fatalities in the world. Road accidents occur mostly due to poor driving or badly maintained roads and vehicles.
