Four snatchers held in Rajshahi

RAJSHAHI, March 31, 2021 (BSS) – Police arrested four people on charge
of their involvement in a snatching case and recovered parts of the snatched
goods from different areas last night.

The arrested were identified as Rejaul Karim, 34, Kartik Chandra Shaha,
45, Shimul Hossain, 30, and Samir Uddin, 38.

Rajshahi Metropolitan Police Commissioner Abu Kalam Siddique held a
press conference on the snatching issue at his office conference hall today
saying the arrested persons snatched medicines worth around Taka 1.70 lakh
from medicine-trader Mehedi Hassan, 28, in Laxmipur area in Rajshahi city on
March 21.

He said the trader with the medicines was heading towards
Chapainawabganj riding on an auto-rickshaw. Subsequently, Mehedi Hassan
lodged a case with Rajpara Police Station in this connection on the same day.

“We have ascertained their identities after analyzing video footage
captured by close circuit cameras,” Kalam Siddique said, adding police
arrested the rickshaw driver Rejaul Karim first from Baharampur area in
Rajshahi city yesterday.

On the basis of his confessional statement, police detained three others
with snatched medicines valued at around Taka 40,000 from different
locations.

Efforts to recover the rest medicines are going on, he added.
