33 more reported COVID-19 positive in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, March 31, 2021 (BSS) – Thirty-three more people were diagnosed
with coronavirus (COVID-19) positive today in Rangpur division where the
infection rate is showing a rising trend in recent weeks.

Health officials said the 33 new cases were reported after diagnosing
376 samples at two COVID-19 laboratories in the division today at the daily
infection rate of 8.78 percent.

Among the 33 new patients diagnosed today, 11 were reported positive
after diagnosing 188 samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory at Rangpur Medical
College (RpMC) in Rangpur city.

“The 11 new patients include six from Rangpur, three from Gaibandha and
two from Kurigram districts,” said Acting Principal of RpMC Professor Dr.
Mahfuzer Rahman.

On the other hand, 22 new patients were reported after diagnosing 188
samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC)
in Dinajpur today.

“The 22 new patients include 15 from Dinajpur, four from Thakurgaon and
three from Nilphamari districts,” Principal of MARMC Professor Dr. Syed Nazir
Hossain told BSS after completing the testing process tonight.

Talking to BSS tonight, Focal Person of COVID-19 and Assistant Director
(Health) for Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui said the number of COVID-19
patients rose to 16,312 as 33 new positive cases were reported today from
across the division.

“The district-wise break up of total 16,312 patients stands at 4,177 in
Rangpur, 806 in Panchagarh, 1,395 in Nilphamari, 975 in Lalmonirhat, 1,038 in
Kurigram, 1,546 in Thakurgaon, 4,872 in Dinajpur and 1,503 in Gaibandha of
the division,” Siddiqui said.
