31 more reported COVID-19 positive in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, March 30, 2021 (BSS) – Thirty-one more people were diagnosed
with coronavirus (COVID-19) positive today in Rangpur division where the
infection rate is showing a rising trend in recent weeks.

Health officials said the 31 new cases were reported after diagnosing
376 samples at the two COVID-19 laboratories in the division today at the
daily infection rate of 8.24 percent.

Among the 31 new patients diagnosed today, 13 were reported positive
after diagnosing 188 samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory at Rangpur Medical
College (RpMC) in Rangpur city.

“The 13 new patients include six from Rangpur, three from Nilphamari,
two from Kurigram and one each from Gaibandha and Lalmonirhat districts,”
said Chief of Divisional Coronavirus Service and Prevention Task Force and
Principal of RpMC Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnobi Lyzu.

On the other hand, 18 new patients were reported after diagnosing 188
samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC)
in Dinajpur today.

“The 18 new patients include 12 from Dinajpur, two from Panchagarh and
four from Thakurgaon districts,” Principal of MARMC Professor Dr. Syed Nazir
Hossain told BSS after completing the testing process at 7 pm.

Talking to BSS, Focal Person of COVID-19 and Assistant Director (Health)
for Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui said the number of COVID-19 patients
rose to 16,282 as 31 new positive cases were reported today from across the
division.

The district-wise break up of total 16,282 patients stands at 4,172 in
Rangpur, 805 in Panchagarh, 1,395 in Nilphamari, 975 in Lalmonirhat, 1,036 in
Kurigram, 1,542 in Thakurgaon, 4,857 in Dinajpur and 1,500 in Gaibandha of
the division.
