212 more test positive for COVID-19 in Ctg

CHATTOGRAM, March 30, 2021 (BSS) – A total of 212 people were tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 24 hours after testing 1,859 samples at seven COVID-19 laboratories in the district.

Among the newly infected patients, 188 are from Chattogram city and 24 from different upazilas of the district, hospital sources said.

The health experts of Chattogram repeatedly urged people to strictly follow health rules and use masks due to continuous increase in corona infections here.

The number of coronavirus (COVID-19) positive cases in the district crossed 39,706 marks after fresh cases were detected today, Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi, civil surgeon of Chattogram, said today.

Civil surgeon Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi told BSS that among the total 39,706 coronavirus infected persons, 31,741 are the residents of the port city and the rest 8,165 are residents of different upazilas of the district.

“The number of cured patients from the lethal virus reached 33,965 in the Chattogram district with the recovery of 70 more patients on Sunday,” Dr Rabbi said, adding that the percentage of recovery rate stands at 85.55.

A total of 1186 infected patients are now undergoing treatment at designated hospitals here, the health official mentioned.

Dr Rabbi said that the number of fatalities remained steady at 386 with one more death reported in the district on Sunday.

Among the reported fatalities, 283 were the residents of the port city and the rest 103 were from different upazilas of the district.
