32 more reported COVID-19 positive in Rangpur

RANGPUR, March 29, 2021 (BSS) – Thirty-two more people were diagnosed with COVID-19 infection today in Rangpur division where the infection rate is showing a rising trend in recent weeks.

Health officials said the 32 new cases were reported after diagnosing 376 samples at the two COVID-19 laboratories in the division today at the daily infection rate of 8.51 percent.

Among 32 new patients diagnosed today, 10 were reported positive after diagnosing 188 samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) in Rangpur city.

“The 10 new patients include five from Rangpur, three from Gaibandha and one each from Kurigram and Lalmonirhat districts,” said Chief of Divisional Corona virus Service and Prevention Task Force and Principal of RpMC Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnobi Lyzu.

On the other hand, 22 new patients were reported after diagnosing 188 samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC) in Dinajpur today.

“The 22 new patients include 20 from Dinajpur and two from Thakurgaon districts,” Principal of MARMC Professor Dr. Syed Nazir Hossain told BSS after completing the testing process at 6:50 pm.

Talking to BSS, Focal Person of COVID-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui said the number of COVID-19 patients rose to 16,249 as 32 new positive cases were reported today from across the division.

The district-wise break up of total 16,249 patients stands at 4,166 in Rangpur, 803 in Panchagarh, 1,392 in Nilphamari, 974 in Lalmonirhat, 1,034 in Kurigram, 1,538 in Thakurgaon, 4,846 in Dinajpur and 1,496 in Gaibandha of the division.
