Zakir’s second straight ton keep Sylhet aloft over Dhaka

DHAKA, March 29, 2021 (BSS)—Youngster Zakir Hasan hammered his second straight century in ongoing Bangabandhu 22nd National Cricket League (NCL) as Sylhet Division kept them aloft over Dhaka Division on the first day of the second round match at Ground-1, Sheikh Kamal International Cricket Stadium in Cox’s Bazar.

Zakir scored 159 off 228 with 17 fours and two sixes as Sylhet ended the day one on 282-6. He struck 140 in the second innings of first round against Khulna.

Zakir’s century paved Sylhet’s platform after they made a disastrous start in the game with opener Shahnaj Ahmed being dismissed for naught while Syaem Ahmed made 11. Amite Hasan was also removed for 13 as Sylhet was reduced to 50-3.

Zakir and Jaker Ali shared 155-run for the fourth wicket to back the side in contention. Jaker Ali made 67.

Asadullah Galib was batting on 24 with Enamul Haque Jinor on 0 before the bails were drawn for first day’s game.
