30 more test positive for COVID-19 in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, March 27, 2021 (BSS) – Thirty more people were diagnosed with coronavirus (COVID-19) positive today in Rangpur division where the infection rate continues rising in recent weeks.

Health officials said the 30 new cases were reported after diagnosing 280 samples at two COVID-19 laboratories in the division today at the daily infection rate of 10.71 percent.

Among the 30 new patients diagnosed today, six were reported positive after diagnosing 92 samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) in Rangpur city.

“All of the six new patients are hailing from Rangpur district,” said Chief of Divisional Coronavirus Service and Prevention Task Force and Principal of RpMC Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnobi Lyzu.

On the other hand, 24 new patients were reported after diagnosing 188 samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC) in Dinajpur today.

“The 24 new patients include 14 from Dinajpur, seven from Nilphamari and three from Thakurgaon districts,” Principal of MARMC Professor Dr. Syed Nazir Hossain told BSS after completing the testing process at 7:35 pm.

Talking to BSS tonight, Focal Person of COVID-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui said the number of COVID-19 patients rose to 16,186 as 30 new positive cases were reported today from across the division.

“The district-wise break up of total 16,186 patients stands at 4,162 in Rangpur, 801 in Panchagarh, 1,388 in Nilphamari, 973 in Lalmonirhat, 1,031 in Kurigram, 1,532 in Thakurgaon, 4,811 in Dinajpur and 1,488 in Gaibandha,” Dr. Siddiqui said
