DHAKA, March 27, 2021 (BSS) – Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport
and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader said that BNP was the patron of the violent
activities carried out by a communal group in Dhaka-Chittagong-Brahmanbaria to
disrupt the golden jubilee celebration of independence.

“The people of the country have witnessed the horrific incidents that BNP has
instigated by provoking its allies in the last few days. But it was the same BNP which
reached the doors of the embassy with flowers and sweets after the victory of
Narendra Modi,” he said while speaking at a press conference at his official residence
here today.

The general secretary of ruling Awami League said that, “Sometimes BNP takes anti-
India stand and sometimes it admires India for going to power which reflect the double
standard of BNP’s politics. Such mal practice of politics has kept BNP isolated from the
people.”

“Lust for power has made BNP blind. Under the guise of opposing the visit of the
Prime Minister of India, they are opposing the celebration of the golden jubilee of the
War of Liberation,” he said, adding that BNP took stand in favor of the force defeated
50 years ago.”

“Now BNP is trying to tarnish the image of the country in guise of opposing the
government,” he added.

Obaidul Quader said the successful completion of the programmes of the golden
jubilee celebration of independence has made BNP infuriated. The people must give a
befitting reply to the violent activities carried out by a communal group inside the
Baitul Mukarram National Mosque during Friday prayers, he said.

About comments of BNP leaders regarding the change of power, the AL general
secretary said the change of power will happen only through elections, so BNP leaders
have to wait until the next election.

BNP pays respect to the spirit and values of independence only to show off to the
people, it is still patronizing the anti-liberation communal forces, he said, adding that
BNP has been practicing politics of conspiracy for more than four decades.

While asked about the remarks of BNP leaders that BNP wants to maintain friendly
relations with all countries, including the neighboring ones, Obaidul Quader said, “The
people of India did not forget that BNP enforced a strike during the visit of late Indian
President Pranab Mukherjee.”

He urged the BNP leaders to do politics for the people. “If you want to go to power,
you must do politics for the welfare of the people, you have to win the love of the people.” he added.

Obaidul Quader expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of 17 people in the tragic road accident in Rajshahi and prayed
for eternal peace of the departed souls.

He directed the BRTA chairman to submit a report through an inquiry into the
incident within seven days.
