Bangladesh, Indian premiers conclude talks

DHAKA, March 27, 2021 (BSS) – Bilateral talks between Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her Indian counterpart Narendra Modi ended here today with officials saying the delegation level talks continued for over an hour after the two premier’s had a tete-a-tete meeting at the PMO.

“The talks have ended . . . the two premiers led their respective sides in the meeting,” a spokesman of the Bangladesh premier’s office told BSS.

He said ahead of the talks the two premiers had an exclusive meeting and added they would now jointly open some projects on virtual platform and witness signing of several memorandums of understanding (MoUs).

The official asked newsmen to await a media briefing later today.

Narendra Modi earlier reached the PMO at 5 pm to be received with e bouquet by his counterpart at her office’s Tiger Gate while the talks ended at around 6.20.

The Indian premier arrived in Dhaka on Friday morning on a two-day state visit in his first overseas visit to join Bangladesh’s Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s birth centenary And golden Jubilee of the country’s 1971 Independence.

The Indian premier is scheduled to leave for home this evening.
